To fight tuberculosis, fund basic research
As the UNGA meets for its first high-level meeting on tuberculosis tomorrow, Dr. Christoph Grundner of the Center for Infectious Disease Research writes in PLOS Biology, urging the need to consider basic research as an essential component of any future anti-TB strategy.
Letter from our president
I am pleased to announce that after 42 years as the oldest and largest, independent non-profit organization in the United States solely focused on infectious disease research, the 166 scientists at the Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR) will join Seattle Children’s Research Institute to create a world-class team of researchers working to find viable solutions to infectious diseases that can pose risks to our communities, and disproportionately impact children and those in poverty.
The Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR) and PreCyte, Inc. have been awarded three specialized grants in support of the Indicator Cell Assay Platform (iCAP).
Funding will support the further optimization and evaluation of iCAP for the early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease; application of the iCAP to the selection of candidate drugs for Alzheimer’s Disease; and application of the iCAP for the classification of indeterminate pulmonary nodules.
